Bucharest Weekend Vibes: 29 November - 1 December 2019

The last article of this season is here. Let's properly welcome the month of December which always brings so much color and joy. Romania celebrates the National Day on the 1st of December, the Christmas market is officially open, winter lights shine every night on the streets of the City of Joy, there's so much to do and see!

Make sure to check both sections of the article and discover the best events to attend over the following days: the first section is highlighting festivals and ongoing events happening throughout the weekend and the second one is showing independent events for each day.

Main events happening all through the weekend:

Bucharest Christmas Fair 2019

The official Christmas Fair of Bucharest is open until 26th December 2019 in Constitutiei Square - Free Entry.

Bucharest Christmas Market is a must-visit destination for all those who want to experience a traditional Christmas, being a family-friendly event that turns the city centre into a festive wonderland. Visitors can enjoy special concerts and performances, a traditional fair of over 100 wooden huts, as well as a gastronomic area with hot seasonal dishes. The magical House of Santa Claus is children’s favourite destination, a fairytale place where Santa and his elves are waiting for the little ones to express their Christmas wishes. Attractions include creative workshops, a carousel for children, a large outdoor ice skating rink for the whole family, a Bethlehem manger and a stunning 30 meters high Christmas tree.

St Andrew Fair

Saint Andrew was the one who brought chrstianity to this corner of the world. Celebrate the occasion with a traditional shopping session at the Peasent's Museum, 29 November - 1 December.

Local producers bring traditional dishes, as tradition demands at the Peasant Market. Healing teas, natural cosmetics, hand-crafted icons, fabrics, ceramics, jewelry, Christmas decorations, wooden objects, stained glass and many other things crafted with love will be up for sale. The antique dealers will be present with fabrics, traditional cloths, carpets, porcelains, jewelry, peasant furniture, and many more.

The fair is open between 10.00 and 18.00 and admission is free!

La Blouse Roumaine X Mostenitorii X KAIAMO

An original Gastronomic Event is in the books of Kaiamo. A unique collaboration between one of the coolest Romanian fusion-restaurants, La Blouse Roumaine - celebrating the Romanian Blouse and Asociatia Culturala Mostenitorii. A sparkling, effervescent perspective of Romania through filters of art, traditions, roots, poetry, culture and gastronomy. Contemporary essence & tangible nostalgia encased together in symphony and harmony. Saturday 19.00 - 23.00 and Sunday 13.00 - 17.30. FRIDAY - 29 November

18.00 - 21.00 Constangeles Fridays at Balls (address)

Enjoy a special menu and atmosphere every Friday at one of the funniest kitchens in town - Balls. They make balls every day, but on Fridays they do it in a nostalgic-boss-way with old twisted recipes.

19.00 - 22.00 Icons of Utopia / Andrei Ciurdarescu Solo Show at ArtHalle (address)

ArtHalle is inviting you to the opening of solo show exhibition: Icons of utopia - work of Andrei Ciudarescu. Andrei's artistic works address the never-ending back-and-forth cycle between creator and creation, as well as of nowadays questions about artificial intelligence.

SATURDAY - 30 November

19.45 - 21.45 Concert St Andrew's at Caru' cu Bere (address)

The Folk band of Caru' cu Bere will play traditional music for the holiday in the cellar of the restaurant-Museum. Forreservations call +40726 282 373 or book your table online.

22.00 - 05.00 Overnite Party at the Ark (address)

This party was desiged with the national values in mind, to celebrate the night between Saint Andrew and The National Day, in neo-traditional style - It takes place in a historical venue, music - local from all times and styles, plus an art exhibition. Get tickets online for 20 lei, or 25 lei at the door.

SUNDAY - 1 December

11.00 - 14.00 Military parade for the National Day at the Arch of Triumph (address)

More than 4,000 military and specialists from the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Romanian Intelligence Service will attend the event. Also, 500 soldiers from over 20 allied or partner countries will attend, and about and over 50 aircrafts will create the air-show.

12.00 - 22.00 Authentic Romanian "Picnic" at Acuarela (address)

Acuarela is welcoming you with authentic dishes, cooked in their living-room. Enjoy the authentic taste of local sausages with beans or cabbage or vegetarian "sarmale" fit for the Christmas lent and of course the dlicious desert, Papanasi!
